Technology, Inc. today announced that Globe Union North America,
a US subsidiary of Globe Union Corp., has signed a purchase agreement
with Wolverine in an effort to improve its forecasting and replenishment
planning processes to increase forecast accuracy, improve inventory
turns and reduce operating costs.
Globe Union is a world-class designer and manufacturer of faucets,
fixtures and accessories for the kitchen and bath. Founded in 1979,
Globe Union has grown to become North America's largest import supplier
of quality faucets and plumbing accessories. The company has earned
this position by consistently manufacturing high-quality products,
providing excellent service at cost-effective pricing while maintaining
its commitment to the highest operational and environmental standards.
In recent years, the competition within the OEM industry has become
keener and even more price competitive, while at the same time Global
Union has been aggressively expanding its distribution channel and
brand development.
Despite the fact that Globe Union is growing, unreliable forecasts
and the resulting inventory related issues are constantly forming,
and these problems could get progressively larger as the company
continues to expand. These issues pose big challenges to Globe Union
as it plans to grow at the same rate while maintaining a good profit
margin and stable operations. Furthermore, these issues could become
a potential threat to the company's growth as the complexity of
managing sales and inventory continues to increase.
Globe Union North America selected Wolverine to help address these
challenges and will implement the following actions to improve their
business:
- Re-engineer current forecasting process to a comprehensive demand-supply
matching and reconciliation process involving the Sales, Marketing,
PM, Supply Planning organizations.
- Implement Wolverine's state-of-the-art Collaborative Demand
Chain (CDM) system in support of the redesigned process.
